Wet and Salty -

2 DVD Set

For all you freestyle addicts out there, this one's for you. And for all you who sit there mystified how these guys do all that crazy freestyle stuff, well this one's for you too.

I think this may be the most unique windsurfing video package to come along in quite some time. There are two DVDs in the set, essentially one that is called Wet, and the other, Salty. Wet (which is what I am after I try any of these new freestyle moves) is pure freestyle action footage at it's best. And talk about footage, these guys obviously put some time into filming this one because they've got everyone, everywhere; people you know, people you don't know, places you've been, places you've never heard of...lots of stuff. The DVD menu is a bit confusing but you can play the main movie, which is broken down into sections of different riders. Then there's a bunch of bonus movie bits which have even more riders tearing it up. Most likely there's one of your hometown heroes in there too. And in an unusual turn of events, the women are not ignored in this video. Wet and Salty has what I would consider the best women windsurfing footage ever caught on tape. Very impressive.

Then there's the other DVD - Salty. This DVD has an extensive "trick book" highlighting all the current freestyle maneuvers and combo manuevers. It's more of a visual aid than a full-blown instructional video but each move is shown from several angles by several different riders. It's great for analysis but it's also very useful for putting a name with a maneuver. There's also a bunch of other extras including a journey through the PWA Freestyle World Tour 2005.

So, we've got a double DVD set, over 200 minutes of footage, 34 rider profiles, 2005 PWA Freestyle World Tour, complete Trickbook, and a bunch of other extras. Pretty cool.

Now for the bad news: Yes, the video is out of Europe and as such English is a second language to them. Two unfortunate song choices require this warning, one for seriously foul language, and the Tonky Franz section for serious sexual inuendo. Other than that, it's great.
